Love the 2 contrasting shots of the scanner inner/outer red/blue, and also love your links in to clara wearing red and then with a blue towel at the end. And this...
These are metaphors, of course -- the ability to burn with passion, to exercise cool reason. It's being able to go between these two polarities, as if they were fused together, that gives the hero the ability to move "between the worlds" -- between the inside of intention and the outside of material action.
Fabulous.
Let me love you for the mirrored images of Clara and River as they find themselves unable to exit the Tardis. And of course, the mirror linking to the name and the library becomes so clear in the finale when we find that they are both ghosts/echoes.
Your thoughts on the theme of being lost over and over this series are interesting. So this is like being lost in the Green World over and over...it's mini-journeys into the special place, meeting the mystery of death each time. I totally agree - this whole cycle Clara has been through with meeting her own mortality - I hadn't picked up on the concept of being Lost though (and of course the links to the actual show Lost, which i know you were a huuuge fan of).
The whole section from the eye of harmony bit up to Clara Who is fascinating, and fantastic work. All the links to different myths (Red riding hood!) and the way it's a capsule version of the Divine Comedy is awesome. Seriously, Janie, your mind sometimes amazes me! You ever though about publishing a book on this stuff?
