I am totally hooked on "Homeland".
Last week after reading tweets from the Emmy Awards about the series, I decided to check it out online. At first my reaction was: "Oh boy, another CIA versus the FBI show with terrorists thrown in to make it interesting. The show has something of the flavor of early episodes of 24, in that the action and pacing is fast, furious and intense. Also, Claire Dane's character is always 'on', much like Kiefer Sutherland's Jack Bauer. Even while sleeping, they are still working, and sleeping is not something they do much of or well.
Anybody remember the PBS series "The Forsyte Saga" from a few years back? Well, Damian Lewis who was the 'star' of that show, is the good guy/bad guy of "Homeland". He plays a Marine sergeant/ ex-POW, who is released after 8 years of captivity at the hands of the #1 Iraqui bad guy with his finger on the trigger, and the power to make really bad things happen to the U.S. Sgt. Brody is rescued by Delta Force operatives, directly after a CIA asset who is to be executed, reveals that an American POW has been 'turned'. Was the Marine been the one who was turned? That's the central pivot season 1 turns on. With each proceeding episode the story delves deeper into this question and it's potential repercussions.
So that's where my head is right now. Next up (and this is sure to thrill you to death), am I eligible for senior citizen discounts now? (I knew you'd be thrilled).
That's all for now. What's up with you? Spill it. I wanna know all the details...
Cheers.
