Zero Hour

I finished watching all 13 episodes of "Zero Hour" this weekend. ABC cancelled it after only 3 episodes, but I found them on solarmovie.so. I liked the show, although some episodes were better than others, and after the initial 'treasures' were found, the story sort of flailed around in search of a remaining plot thread. I've always been a sucker for a good religious horror/thriller tv show or movie. This one concerns 'Modern Skeptic' magazine, it's editor (Anthony Edwards), two staff members, an FBI agent and a fictious take on the Rosicruians, and their enemies The Pirates (and no they have no connection to Jack Sparrow or Blackbeard). It's been a while since tv had tackled such a subject, and with the plethora of movies out there within the genre, viewer fatigue may have been why the ratings were so low. But I enjoyed watching Anthony Edwards on tv again. And the various plot threads did keep my interest, if only because I wanted to know where the heck the series was headed, and how on earth it was going to come to a coherent conclusion.

I saw an interview with Anthony, and he said that season 1 was meant to be a stand alone story, with subsequent seasons tackling other subjects. Too bad ABC pulled the plug on it so early. On the 4th of July, I was discussing the series with my fellow geek - my cousin Larry, and he and his wife Deb had DVR'd the remainder of the episodes, which ABC is airing during this summer.

Now that I'm done with that, I'm trying to decide on which series I'm going to watch linearly next. True Blood, season 2 of Homeland, season 5 of Merlin, or something else that strikes my fancy?

cancelled, faith, mystery, television, adventure, horror
