Former Harry Potter star Emma Watson has reportedly signed up for another Warner Bros film that might just be the studio's answer to the end of JK Rowling's magical franchise.
Watson, 23, is set to reunite with Potter producer David Heyman for fantasy film Queen of the Tearling, based on a soon-to-be-published novel by US author Erika Johansen, whose fictional world has been compared to that of George RR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire saga, which inspired hit HBO series Game of Thrones.
Although her first novel has not yet been released, Johansen has already signed a seven-book deal, so there is potential for a movie franchise that could run for as long as the Harry Potter films.
Set years after an environmental catastrophe, Queen of the Tearling is based in a world ruled by dark sorceress the Red Queen. Watson will play 19-year-old princess Kelsea Glynn, reports Variety, who strives to reclaim the crown while grappling with coming of age in a land where her life is often in danger.
Best known for playing Harry Potter goody-two-shoes Hermione Granger between 2001 and 2011, Watson has since starred in Perks of Being a Wallflower and The Bling Ring.
Since the book hasn't even been released yet, they're kinda jumping the gun don't you think?
