During the Wildling weekend in October I had so much fun I decided not to retire Windsong but go to Booyah. With Nieske's old (recycled) longsleeves tearing at the seams I needed some new costume items. I have a few basic blocks figured out for myself now (still need to tackle trousers and skirts though) so creating a tunic was a matter of hours. ( Read more... )

I've worked so hard on these uniforms for the Dutch East Indies Army and then it's so rewarding to see the end product all together. Today was for buttons & buttonholes, and the buttons really finish this outfit.

The (OC) Orenda Picknick was held at the Arnhem Openluchtmuseum (Open Air museum). The museum is great, it's pretty large and makes for a wonderful walk around old buildings like the cheese factory, the village, and several types of Dutch Farmsteads. There's a tramline around the park that has two or three trams from 1931 driving visitors around. ( Read more... )

The blouse is done. Took far longer than I expected, of course. But I have a wearable costume! The skirt is slightly too narrow over my rotund buttocks and the hat needs pimping and I didn't bother with things like hemming the lace top, but it's done and I can wear it. And I can even wear it without a corset, should I really need to. It's a comfort ( Read more... )
