Faster then expected

It's amazing how much work you can get done when you put your back into it. I had some elbowspace on the big table today and as soon as I ironed the previously sewn patches, I realised I was getting quite far on my mother's quilt. Sure enough, I managed to stitch the bottom three blocks to each ninepatch block that hadn't been completed today!

That makes 24 blocks complete, with only one block left to be sewn unless I change my layout around to 6x4 in stead of 5x5. And I've got all this fabric lying around, so I'm going to do the right thing and make that last block after all. Besides, the 6x4 would have really awkward proportions (never you mind the 3x8...) whereas the original plan would work really well on their bed.

I've cut the final bits of fabric just now (I hope) and perhaps if I feel like it I can start on sewing all the blocks together after dinner. Thank goodness for no sashing between the blocks, that's all I'm saying.
After all the blocks are done, I need to cut my borders and attach them, iron the whole thing flat as a board, and get it to someone with a long-arm quilt machine to have it batted and quilted. Hurrah!

Of course, all this progress just screamed for some slacking while maille'ing, so I went ahead and watched no less then four episodes of Grey's anatomy, and I'm breaking my head over where I know all the actors from. Izzy I've seen on some Austen flick, I think. Meredith reminds me so much of Michelle Pfeiffer (especially the way she purses her lips), whereas the frat boy, whatever the hell his name is (Alex?) looks a lot like King Arthur from Mists of Avalon, but isn't. I'm too lazy to IMDB the actors right now, and dinner's almost done. But I like the series.
