Competition Round 2

Apr 09, 2018 10:00

When the pattern dropped Saturday morning 1 am, I was fast asleep but that meant I woke up to a bit of a start: brioche and a Fleegle heel, two new techniques -- although I might have done a variation of the Fleegle heel before. I did try my hand at brioche once and I couldn't master it back then. The yarn overs got me all confused.

I set up the cuff and stopped as soon as it was finished, because Kass and Bob would be coming to dinner that night. We cleaned, dusted, aired the cats, and I put on the Babi Ketjap. Any excuse, right?
We had tons of fun and they left after midnight.

Sunday morning I put on some Star Trek TNG and set to work mastering brioche. 'Watching' Star Trek didn't make it any easier, but after two episodes and frogging three times, I got the hang of it. It's nigh impossible to un-knit because you have to make sure the yarn-overs lie just so. But it's in the round, so that's easy. And I like the Brioche-Knit rounds, because I can pick up the yarn-over as I slip the purl stitch with my right needle by poking it over the left one and pick the working yarn and sliiiiiide. It has a nice rythm.

Off to a good start.

During the initial yarn-panic HowlingMoon chose the colours, so these will be for her. The above is crappy phonecam picture, the real colours are more saturated. The yellow is mustard-gold in real life.
The weather was lovely this weekend, predicting 20°C but ending up more around 24. I spent an hour outside at the end of the afternoon to knit, soaking up Vitamin D and being helped by our kitties. With such cheerleaders, I must win, right?!

However, I woke up with a sore shoulder. I am convinced it has to do with my AliExpress shopping of last night. Let's see how it clears up during the day.
