Yesterday's workday being all scrunched up and bunched up and tense leaves me very sore today. I think I'm going to have a lazy day today and see if my shoulders feel better at the end of it. I can repair my shoes, take pictures of my new stash and finished objects, and turn the heel on two different socks. (Did one already this morning.)
We just took pictures of the Harvest Cardigan. It's finished, and although I'm not 100% pleased, I'm not going to frog back or try something different. It's fine, it's going to be a wear-at-home cardigan, I'm not going to wear it in crowded places because it attracts cat hairs like crazy. So I'm not going to worry about the bottom hem being to wide, about the hip bulge that seems to happen, the wool being itchy or the buttons that aren't quite a match with the wool.
Lovely warm cardi!
Let's focus on the good points instead:
- It's got great sleeve length so I can haz warm wrists for a change.
- It matches this washed-out longsleeve quite nicely, as I suggested when I first made the longsleeve.
- It's very warm, both because it's wool and because it's long in several key places.
- It's a wonderful colour.
- I learned lots of things!
I learned how to knit a top-down cardigan, which works very similarly to a top-down sweater! I learned increases to make raglan sleeve, and what the difference is between a Make-One-Left and a Make-One-Right (further deepened the knowledge of the difference between the two with my Daybreak shawl, which is now officially frogged). I learned that you can indeed block a cardigan to the intended gauge. I learned to do buttonholes -- and to buy the buttons along with the wool so you can adjust the buttonhole width to the size of your buttons (my holes are slightly too big, so the buttons slip out). I learned that even if you can very nearly not tell the difference in dye bath, it does always show up in the finished project. And I learned to live happily with my perfectionism and when to not cling desperately to it.
So yes, happy enough! Looking forward to my next Cardigan project.
