Hmm
It's a really tough time of year to be single. Not only is Valentine's Day nearly upon us (and what a terrible commercialized catastrophe that is), but the Barristers' Ball is in two weeks. It's basically the law school equivalent of the prom - everyone dresses up, dances in a hotel ballroom, eats hors-d'oeuvres and drinks too much. I'd like to go, but being single, I have no date. That's no big deal on its own - I could just go with a group of friends. Unfortunately, the people I'm closest to at law school all have significant others. So even if they did invite me to tag along, I'd be the awkward leftover person. And what would I be doing when they're all off dancing with their snuggle bunnies?
Haha, can you tell I'm bitter much? Honestly, I'm not trying to ruin anyone's romantic time. If you've got someone, that's great! I just wish I could join the stupid goopy sheep-eyed couples for once. Alas, the pickings at school are sadly slim.
In other news, I have 40 pages to read for criminal law tomorrow. On homicide. Not that it won't be interesting, but ugggh, I just finished a legal writing assignment by the skin of my teeth (and probably bombed it), so I'm in no mood for this. On the up side, Justice Alito is coming to the school tomorrow for a Q&A session, so I will see my first Supreme Court justice in the flesh.
