Random Update Time

Wow, do I have a number of posts coming up quick. Mostly my usual collection updates, expect some things to be here shortly. Vancouver hopefully soon... honestly been slacking at putting it together because I'm still waiting on a couple pictures. But most of all something that should have been posted a loooonnnngggg time ago, and for once it's not my fault it was delayed! But since it's been so long it can wait a little longer... I still need to type it all out. Never bothered because I'd honestly given up in being able to do it.

But for now, I finally do my post that was meant for yesterday, but had to get pushed back because I was exhausted after work and pretty much slept all day.

On Saturday we went to see The Magic Flute. It was performed by the emerging artists and made a little more kid friendly (eg., Papageno and Papgena's kids were little Angry Birds bean bags) as it was an afternoon show. It was pretty entertaining.

As we were leaving we stopped in an Indigo in the nearby mall. Sad to see a bookstore closing, but it did lead to some really good deals.

All of this (minus the drawing book, which dad bought for me) for $24! The regular price of the Tolkein book alone is $26.95. That's an interesting one. It looks at ring myths and legends and how Tolkein drew from them to create his own mythology.

Disney book was a no brainer, especially at a thrid of the price.
The Illiad and The Gambler cost $2.50 each.

The green one is a Dickens box set: Tale of Two Cities, Oliver Twist, Great Expectations, and David Copperfield. Not sure what the original price was, but the sticker price was $19.99 and it was on a table for 50% off. But at the till they gave me another 50% off, so I only paid $5!!

And a bookmark to use at work. I doubt it will have any effect, but it's a lot politer than the one I was going to make.

After supper at the Old Spaghetti Factory, we went to the CPO. Was only familiar with one piece (Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man). There were a couple other good pieces, but most of it was only worth it for the talent of the orchestra. Nothing I would listen to at home. During intermission we were looking at next weekend's concert and decided to make a special trip in for it.

Barber Adagio for Strings
Beethoven Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 61
Sibelius Symphony No. 7 in C Major, Op. 105
Barber Symphony No. 1, Op. 9
Can't wait!!!

books, cpo, disney, music, it's just my collection
