This weekend is off to a great start. Last night I took Karen out to dinner for giving me a bunch of her stuff before she moves to Chicago in June. I love free stuff, and a 27", relatively new and mint-condition TV for $100. Then I headed on to the Borders on Mill for Fine China's 3rd album release. Unfortunately, I was late for the show, due to the former dinner and some family issues to discuss over the phone. I did get to buy the CD though, which so far is excellent. They outdo themselves with every album. Then my boy Joran, our buddy Dan and I went to my sister's for some Fear Factor-esque drinking. It wasn't all that scary, except for the first drink -- Cement Mixers. I'd only done one before, about a year or 2 ago, and at that time I ended up spitting it out, it was so heinous. This time, we vowed to keep it down. In case you've never known or imagined the grossness of a cement mixer, here's some mind candy: do a shot of Bailey's, but don't swallow it, then follow it with a shot of lime juice and swish/churn it in your mouth -- when it feels like vomit or cottage cheese in your mouth, it's about the right consistency. Then swallow. It's disgusting, but fun to do on a dare. After that, we did Irish car bombs and then made some great, experimental frozen drink out of vodka, buttershots, Kahlua, Bailey's, milk & ice. Mmm...delish. I love alcoholic drinks that dangerously don't taste like alcohol -- like a shot called a Royal Scottsman. It's butterscotch schnapps and Crown Royal, and it doesn't taste one bit like booze to me.
Today I'm debating whether to go to the Scottsdale Culinary Institute with my sister and her work friend, or sit around and do nothing until evening. I'm leaning toward going. It's the day after payday, and I should get out. Tomorrow I'm going paintballing at 8am with Emily & Brian and the bachelorette/bachelor party posse! I've never gone, and I'm planning on whooping some asses.
Ahh. It feels good to journal.
