Kahlan woke with a start, sitting bolt upright in bed. Her head swayed slightly, and she placed her hand against her temple in an attempt to alleviate the sensation.

Alright I take it back! This!! Was even meaner than chapter 2! Seriously! I was all EEE Seeker Happy Times! And then you're all "OH NO! *sucker punch*" Shota Time! LOL!

This whole paragraph:

She didn’t see the low hanging branch through her misty stare until it was too late, and the wind was knocked from her lungs as her chest crashed into it. She fell backwards from the force, and lay staring at the maze of branches that created the roof of the forest as she sucked in painful breaths. She rested her hand against her chest, tenderly pushing on her ribs to check if anything felt broken, but she was at least grateful that it seemed she would escape with only bruising. She could feel her heart beating rapidly beneath the palm of her hand; she wanted to think it was merely from exertion, but she knew part of it was from fear that she wouldn’t find Richard before he made a terrible mistake. is my favourite from this piece, I could hear and see everything and feel Kahlan's desperation as she ran! I really like the touch that her shoes are missing and she's still going because it's just THAT important and the physical pain on top of the emotional pain is really well done!

I missed your update of this during the week because I've not been checking LJ religiously bc I'm doing NaNo so only noticed this tonight when I caught chapter 4. Off to go read that now :)
