We had our second meet yesterday. That's right: it's October, and we've only had 2 races. Silly NAIA. It was such a relief to finally run a decent race. I was scared out of my mind when I ran 22:30 last time. I couldn't tell if I ran that bad because I just generally suck, or if I just had a bad race. Now I know it was just one bad race. I ran 20:27 yesterday (for 3 miles- add about 40 sec to adjust it to 5k time). I felt so much better about myself. I really don't suck that bad! And it made me feel good that I was only 15 seconds behind one of the guys on our team... which isn't saying much for our team.
Yesterday was a loooong day. Woke up at 4:30. Left for New Orleans at 6:00. Raced at 10. Brett Guy was there and Greg Mac came to watch. (What a great friend... he dragged himself out of bed to come cheer me on...hmmm... just kidding, Patty. "j/k bud, j/k") I got 18th, Katie got 22nd, and Emily got 23rd. We all ran considerably faster than last time. Thank God. Out to lunch. Talked to Mearn, Christin, Laurel, and Patty on the bus ride back. Watched Pirates of the C with Justin that night. He went downtown, and I had ladies' night with Katie and Anne (on the team). "Ladies' night" only lasted about 2 1/2 hours for me. Don't drink, kids. Don't drink. I made some phone calls. I've never been that bad. Had a few laughs on the golf course (and by "laughs," I mean I couldn't stand up straight). When I was finally able to walk, Anne brought me back to Walsh and I went straight to sleep. I didn't even hear Monica come in. And I always hear her. She said I sat up, mumbled something about a dresser, did a crazy high-pitched laugh, then fell back on the bed. Man, I'm so cool now. Don't drink, kids.
