Update
Today was the brunch. Thanks to Emily, Richard, Andrew, Mark, Roger, Jake, and Donald for coming out. To the rest of you, for shame! Eh, no worries. Try to join us next time though, okay? :(
I had a doctor's appointment today with our family doctor. He basically just looked at my leg, made note of a few things, and told me to ice it. I'm supposed to go back next Monday for a follow-up, and he says I will probably be back at work on Monday, July 19th. It's just a matter of letting it heal now.
It appears that there is an "auto" switch on the transfer car that causes the machine to move back to a "home position". My Dad was taking a look at it today while he was at work, and as soon as he flipped that switch, the car started moving away on its own (much to the surprise of the operator, actually). Nobody knew that it could do that until now. They disconnected that switch so that hopefully it will never do that again. Now, this switch should never have even been switched on in the first place. But I noticed that the guy who was working on the machine with me kept switching it to auto, even when I would switch it back, and I could never figure out why. My guess is that he switched it to auto a few minutes before this happened, and then as soon as I stepped off the machine, it started moving away.
I suppose these are all questions that will be answered soon enough.
