The Canucks got knocked out tonight. But that's okay because...
THE DARK RIDERS ARE GOING TO THE FINALS!!!
Woooooooo!! Come out and watch us kick some ass for the championship. The first game is Sunday afternoon. Woo hoo!
Today I have been surviving on coffee...
I woke up this morning at the unholy hour of 4:00am in order to apply for a passport. I swear, if the world wants to create more terrorists, they will continue to put people through this ridiculous rage-inducing application process.
I arrived at the Passport Canada office on Saba Road for 5:00am, and I was 27th in line. The guy that was 1st in line slept in his car that night. The guy that was 2nd in line arrived at 2:00. I suspect he had been drinking since at least 2:00 because he got more and more rowdy as the morning went on.
There I waited in the cold, the wind, and briefly the rain, until the doors opened at 8:30. The time was killed listening to AC/DC, Pink Floyd, The Arctic Monkeys, and Queen, and reading "Hannibal Rising" (I managed to get over half way through the book during that time; stay tuned for a review).
At 8:30 the doors were opened and we slowly filed inside. As I sat down in the waiting room, the drunk guy who was 2nd in line was just finishing up his application. As he did so, he turned around, raised his arms in the air, and yelled, "WOOOOOOOOOO!!!" He then went around and started giving high fives to random people in the waiting room. I suspect his application will be swiftly denied. It's people like that who could potentially make for a very uncomfortable nine hour international flight.
Anyways, there I sat in the waiting room until 9:30, when I was finally able to actually go up to the desk and start the proceedings. By 9:45 I had processed my application and I was outta there! Woo! I tell ya, when I walked out those doors it felt like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. Haha.
It was quite the experience. I can't wait to do it again in another five years. Ugh.
Best birthday card ever:
[outside]
"So anyway, I'm standing in line to buy you a freakin' birthday card and the line is like seventeen billion people long 'cause the only thing the dumb teenage boy at the register is thinking about is the dumb teenage girl at the other register, and some dumb lady is turning her purse inside out to come up with "exact change," like she's gonna win some kind of "exact change trophy" or something, and some idiot starts up with his "This item was marked with the sale price" crap, and I just really hope you like this card..."
[inside]
"'Cause I stole it.
Happy Birthday."
Thank you American Greetings.
