So my mom suggested that for my birthday this year (July 2), we could take a day trip or an overnight trip to somewhere in Michigan or in the nearby driving area.  She keeps pressing me to pick a place so she can book the arrangements, but I really can't think of anything that I haven't already done or that would be fun with mom.
