My New Year could've never been better. There were many countdown places in Taipei City full with people and pop singers. In front of Taipei 101 (the tallest building in the world for now), 400,000 people gathered together to wait for the arrival of 2006. There were of course fireworks, music, performance, and almost everything that you can think of that are related to New Year. But I wasn't there. In fact, I even forgot to watch the countdown from the TV. But I was happy. Because I didn't fly for ten thousand miles just to be in a crowd of 400,000 people just to wait for a new year to come. Instead I stayed at home and watched Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban on HBO. I only picked up the phone to call my friend Steve to wish him a happy new year and ask him about the plans for the following day. So that was my magical New Year. The day after though, I went out with my friends from middle school. I haven't seen them for about six years. Some of them are in college as well, some of them are still preparing for college entrance exam because they didn't do as well last year. Even though only eight of them could make it, I was still glad to see them. I can't believe how fast time has passed us by. One of my classmate, who didn't come, is about to get married. He stopped going to school after middle school and started working for his parents at a fish market. Now, at age 18, he drives a Mercedes-Benz (without license), and he got a girl pregnant. We were making fun of him by saying that the girl is probably the daughter of butcher across from their fish stand. So the next time my classmates and I are going to get together will probably be at his wedding.
