As January is passing by [and because I haven't posted since I returned to the Internet in November, and because I realize my last several posts were all meme crap] I feel that I should update everyone out there on my life. Don't blink, you might miss the update.
This last month was quite uneventful. I still am a substitute at two schools, still seeking a "real job." However, I have decided, after much hard thinking, that I cannot continue to teach as a substitute. I handed in an application at a local school that had something in the paper yesterday, so I'm waiting to hear back from that. Should that not work out, I am going to look into other employment; I have hesitated on this for the simple matter that, despite the poor pay and unstable work schedule, at least I am teaching. But it comes down to this: live the dream and stay in this rut for the rest of my life, or find work elsewhere and get money to fund a career change. Really, this is something I should have done a long time ago, but I stupidly, "lived the dream."
Speaking of subbing, I did not work until the third week of the month and have been eeking by with barely $50.00 in the bank. Because of that I haven't gone anywhere or seen anyone for pretty much the whole month. So, I've been by myself, reading, cleaning. It's been awful.
Church work is going well. I have been retained for another year, and my Sunday School teachers and I had a brainstorming meeting and the spring semester is looking up.
One thing I have been doing is working on lesson plans. It's something my friend Steph told me to do, to keep current, and as something to show employers in interviews. I came up with one the other day when I was in an English class. I thought, "Hey! Cooperative Groups. I could "sort" my students into their cooperative groups, but base them on Myers-Briggs typing. Then, they can create their own houses with their own mascot and colors, based on what they feel is important to them, using their MBTI as a jump-off point. It'll be great." And so it's turned into a nightmare. The research phase is maddening. I'm trying to condense the 16 types [which are already in four main groups] into subgroups. For example, The Champion falls under the grouping "Idealist" which is Ravenclaw, however, as the name suggests [as a CHAMPION of a cause] it also embodies the principles of Gryffindor, The Artisan. So it could be either of those houses. I'm having some trouble with the Slytherin group.
And speaking of Slytherins, any Slytherins out there have any ideas of a "quintessential" image for you? I have The Crusader for Gryffindor, The Statue of Liberty for Hufflepuff [winks at Christine], and The Goddess Athena for Ravenclaw, but I'm stumped on Slytherin.
I have mascot ideals for each type [and the mascots that go along with them]. I also have color selections for each, based on what the colors stand for. And I've done research on the four different types they are associated with: the elements, the directions, the seasons, the humours, the suits of a deck of cards. I also assembled a list of famous people in life and fiction based on MBTI types for each group. And I found quotes for each group, too. It's shaping up.
Um...what else? Nothing.
