I spent my weekends in Penang with a friend from KL.
Both for work and leisure.
Initially, I was actually quite looking forward to this trip but eventually... I kind of regretted it.
I had my hotel room booked, but I ended up spending both nights at HIS place in Ivory Plaza. Nice apartment though.
I only returned to my hotel in the day time and during the days, I was with Bryan, the KL friend, hanging out, sun-tanning and did NO sight-seeing. But the time spending with Bryan was the most enjoyable.
Upon arrival, HE picked me up from the bus terminal at 6.30am. HE waited for about 1.5hours before I finally arrived. Felt abit bad but nothing I could do. But I still apologised. I was beat by the time I arrived Penang. The bus journey was a horrible experience. Firstly, the bus was over crowded. The bus company sold more seats than what were available. I was one of the victims with no seat. This caused a delay before the bus could sort out the seating problems. The bus headed North finally, it was 45minutes late.
Happy and satisfied. I sat back and relaxed to enjoy the bus journey.
It didn't take long before I realised the bus had more to offer.
On board, there were two talkative mouths. The bus driver and the co-driver were talking non-stop!
I am not kidding. They talked and laughed loudly non-stop throughout the whole journey!
I paid RM35 for a super-coach to Penang, but I got super-talkative coach instead!
I paid RM35 like other passengers for a decent seat to Penang, but I was with the seat that could not lean backward.
On top of that, the bus was filthy and stinky!
The smells of bad body odour plus stinky shoes fill the air soon everyone comfortably laid back on their seats - with the SHOES off!
Exhausted. I tried to catch some sleep.
Frustrated. I could not sleep.
The headlights from the opposite cars would strategically shone at me when all the seats before me were declined.
Famished. The bus did NOT stop over for any break. It moved on all the way except for only a 5min toilet break.
Exhausted, frustrated and famished, I only hope I could arrive at my destination sooner.
Guess what? The bus traveled at a speed that took us a good 6.5 hours to reach Penang, whereby on a usual time, it takes only 5 hours!
