I was signing into my Yahoo account earlier and I noticed something very interesting on the Yahoo news section. Here is a link to it:
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/16112006/140/pair-use-force-jedi-religion.html I don't know whether to think these people are crazy, ignore them or give it a go myself. At first I had a good laugh because I mean the Jedi were invented by a man for his universe. They were created in our lifetime and within living memory of everybody here.
We know for certain it isn't real but then the more I thought about it, the more I realised that that doesn't matter. How do we know that some of the worlds oldest and biggest religions weren't created in a similar manner? Maybe they were the fiction of one person but like this people decided to take it seriously and make a religion out of it? It is perfectly plausible, you can post comments with any number of ways trying to justify your religion but at the end of the day holy books are written by people. Some may say they are inspired by the gods or the gods divinely told the writer what to write but lets look at it like this; if somebody came up to you and told you a god told them to write down something you would think they were crazy. How do we know these prophets and holy wirters weren't crazy? Then again maybe the gods did tell them what to write and the person telling you this isn't crazy?
The Jedi and their philosophys were based on the swordsmen of the east and eastern culture, so having a religion based on it isn't such an outrageous idea as it already has some roots and culture in history. It isn't entirely a fantasy just made up by somebody.
I think I shall look into it a bit more. Bizarre though it is, I am quite interested in it.
