Back from NC - 11.5 hours is a bit long for a solo drive, so it was nice to have Tom to split the driving with. He only tried to shift into 6th gear a few times, and my Subaru was kind enough not to let him. However, 23 hours trapped in a car with patient zero has given me a mild case of some modern plauge. I had a blast, even with a moist cough and having a piano set down on my foot. Dan and Casey are a ton of fun to hang out with. We drank a hell of a lot of good beer, ate some great food, and basically just lounged around and hung out for the whole 4-day weekend. The South is a neat place food-wise -- being able to buy turducken in the grocery store was a pleasant surprise. Also, I enjoy when the second-smallest Margarita I can order ("medium") is served in a glass as large as my head. Scrapple was a new experience; I didn't care for it, but I'll probably try it again the next time I'm heading south.

Also, I learned that US-15 (as in, Mt. Hope) goes really far south -- we took it all the way to Frederick, MD on the way down, and took it from Leesburg, VA on the way back to avoid Holiday traffic. It's a nice drive, and we made good time.

Also also: apparently I look a bit like Jeff Gordon of Nascar fame. This was a new fact for me.
