Except for the first few months plus one other time, I've been getting my hair cut by the same person for the whole time I've lived here, and I think she's gotten to know me and how I like my hair cut. So when I got my hair cut like a month ago, I didn't give her the detailed instructions on how to cut my hair, since she didn't look like she needed them. The detailed instructions, for those of you who don't know, are to use clippers on the sides and back but use scissors on the top where the hair should be longer. A month ago she used scissors on the sides and back too. So when I went to get my haircut yesterday, I made sure to say again that she should use clippers on the sides and back. And you know what? She used scissors on the sides and back again. I'm not inclined to tell my hair cutter to stop using the tool she's using, since it might piss her off, and more than anyone but perhaps your mohel, you should avoid pissing off your hair cutter. What you can do without pissing them off is ask them to take off a little more. But she actually cut it about how I would've wanted it anyway, so it was fine. Strange, though, for her to refuse to use a standard tool that I explicitly requested.
