In which I talk about the comics ( just a little and not in a positive way as it is expected) and Spike/Buffy (a lot ,in an over-enthusiastic way ,as it is expected)

Once again, Caroline, you have said the things I am thinking. From the reviews of the most recent comic, it looks like more of the same between Buffy and Spike. Some snark, some supportive Spike, and a whole lot of the Season 8 Buffy.

It's an agony to hear of - just more stringing along with no resolution.

Once again, Caroline, you have said the things I am thinking Thank you. I certainly have been repeating some things from the past but I needed to write down my own thoughts. I don't recognize myself in the Buffyverse as it comes across on livejournal nowadays because it is more or less always bathed in the light of the comics. At the exception of a bunch of authors who still write what I want to read and of the contributions in a few comms, there's not much left to rejoice about.

it looks like more of the same between Buffy and Spike Back to square one , it seems , which I understand can be seen as totally depressing for those who take the comics seriously. You may say that I've killed Buffy and Spike in my imagination yet it doesn't feel wrong. What feels wrong is how Joss plays with them , portraying them like they had never experienced raw passion. It's ridiculous really.

It's an agony to hear of - just more stringing along with no resolution. We would never have a resolution- so I made up mine :as a personal preference I like it ( ... )

I’m just as blindly, stubbornly in love with the idea/the tale of them as I was many years back.

Yes, this. My enjoyment of the Buffyverse may have been tainted by the comics, but my love of Spike/Buffy and their relationship (as we saw it on the show) has never ever waivered. I'm still as in love with their story as I ever was, which is why I find the comic versions of their characters (and how they interact with each other) such a bitter pill to swallow. Their story deserved so much better than this.

I imagine she showed that she wanted him fully, and he felt worthy of her without needing to” climb " up." They reconnected with their passionate natures and of course there’s parity between them . They find happiness with each other.
They are driven towards heroism , rising to huge challenges - together , side by side.

Thank you for this post, Caroline. I think this is exactly what I needed to hear today. :)

I love that we're still fervent in our love for Buffy and Spike. We're just a few left by now.
Their story deserved so much better than this. Yes- and thank God for fanfic , because Joss and Co could only disappoint.

I think this is exactly what I needed to hear today. My pleasure.:) I wrote it with you in mind , too. We're so much alike in our views of the ship and the current situation in fandom.
And I needed to express a last time a few things.

I love the way you love them!

IMHO - from what I understand of the comics - they seem to be in a better place than they have ever been. Free of the past, hopeful for the future and friends. That is a strong foundation to build on.

I love the way you love them! Hee, thank you.:)

they seem to be in a better place than they have ever been I really don't know about this. It seemed as far as I could understand from the little bits of analysis here end there that it was pretty much indifference .But honestly I haven't got lot of information.
That is a strong foundation to build on. Well, if some readers think so, good for them! It's very far from my own expectations but I'm weird.:-)

I'm sad that the way Joss went in the comics has brought so much angst to the fans on all sides. It created so much stir in fandom. I'll stick with fan fiction. It may not be Joss' canon, but it makes sense to me and many others.

The Spuffy relationship isn't always perfect or happy, but it is an adult relationship with love, concern, respect and support for each other. That even showed in the comics.

You realize when reading people's comments on a number of threads about the comics and its disappointment that many fans have slowly left all interest for the verse and I suspect that the comics have helped.

I'm glad I could keep my love for this beautiful love story unspoiled.

Oh, I totally agree. It's a forever love. I don't care what anybody else thinks, to me, that is the reality. And they're awkward around each other because they've both done things they'd rather they hadn't, but in the end they just fit. They're flawed. They're both stubborn in their own way. But there's love. I won't be persuaded otherwise, so shift up on the porch because I'm sitting down to do some dreaming :)

My conception might be seen as something a bit extreme, but I stand by my opinion.::nods::
