In which I talk about the comics ( just a little and not in a positive way as it is expected) and Spike/Buffy (a lot ,in an over-enthusiastic way ,as it is expected)

*nods along to post*

I have several different endings for Spike and Buffy, but they do end up together. (And as soon as I get myself sorted out you'll see what might be my favourite future for them in 'My Immortal 2'. :)

nods along to post Thank you.:)

I'm aware of the extreme perspective when I want them to die at the same time on the battle field but it's such a powerful and fantastic end eventually for them.::my romantic self is rejoicing:: :)

Anyway being together as equal partners is a must. And I don't think it's too much to ask. I'm not okay with something lukewarm or Buffy being beneath Spike for all the mistakes she made.:(
I will be here for My Immortal part 2!

That banner is mouth watering ! Now I'm sure that it represents a nice incentive if you needed one.:-)

Hee, at least it's better than the crumbs Joss is throwing to the readers.

Also, I hadn't read Maggie's post on the S/B scene and its meaning but I went to see your comment there and I agreed wholeheartedly with what you said, especially here:Spike will be kept around, because he's popular, but nothing can ever really happen. Which means that their story is now story-driven (writer-dictated) rather than character-driven, and I think that's a huge loss.

Joss an romance are unmixy things but what he's doing here is deeply depressing.

I agree with you, Caroline (and most everything you've said here) that S-8 has more of a dampening affect on the fandom. Like you, I've pretty much avoided it, but not totally - almost impossible to. I know a bit about 'Twilight' and Spike coming back ( ... )

S-8 has more of a dampening affect on the fandom It definitely has.
I think we're at a turning point between old and new school, I mean fans who consider the show as the only canon and fans who often arrived more recently who came to accept it whether they like it or not. I've seen many comments of people saying more or less that they thought of moving on and that the comics!angst helped them doing it without many regrets.

Also his letter was most infuriating .

I know many have lauded the fact (from Angel or S-8) that Spike is now his own man, doesn't need Buffy Well you know I don't see how Spike as his own man and in love with Buffy would be mutually exclusive but I remember that there was that argument two years ago ( ... )

Buffy is portrayed OOC in the comics and the last issue doesn't put her in a better light IMHO. As I understand things, people who analyze it in a positive way attempt to force the evidence to fit their theories rather than constructing their theories according to the evidence (we're all guilty of this, after all)LOL - of course we are, but in our case, we made it better, not worse. Yeah, it's my/our opinion, but so what? Some of the much harder or unpleasant things that happened in the show - or those that just seemed so hard to believe were put in there - well, those things made a lot of writers take up their pens/keyboards. I know it did me. But the perceived wrongness of what was canon (at least in the show) was still inspiring enough to want to make sense of it, to give them a better place, a truer love, a richer life, etc ( ... )

For me, they inspire just apathy and a sadness that they even exist. Yes- and angst for both sides.

I'd sign up for it, and nominate the S-8 comics as the winner! I remember that site, I had ranted against it. On the whole I don't understand why people give so much importance to something that isn't good at all after the show. The TV series has its flaws but we reached a deep hole of nonsense with the comics. ::sighs::

Where Pies Go When They Die by ghostyouknow27 - now that was a fantastic yarn, really, really good. It was. And the outstanding fic of 2010 was for me Imitation of a man,by Darkapple. A revelation. :)

Exactly! :) Ah Serene, we're so much alike in our loving!
::hugs::

I imagine she showed that she wanted him fully, and he felt worthy of her without needing to” climb " up." They reconnected with their passionate natures and of course there’s parity between them . They find happiness with each other.
They are driven towards heroism , rising to huge challenges - together , side by side.

They like being heroes and putting everything aside until the job's done.
And after a rich and long life , their share a last effulgence with simultaneous death on the battle field.

I loved the whole post but these lines in particular rang true to me and look like my own future!spuffy. It's maybe romantic but so beautiful to imagine them dying as heroes, together.
Thank you for your unwavering passion for them, Caroline!
