"There's some people need some killin' over here"

The remark above was an interview snippet I just heard on NPR where someone in the army was being asked how they felt when they heard that many people in the US now felt that the war in Iraq was a mistake.

How horrifying is that?

That is terrible. I have met people like that though. When my x husband was in the military I met this young man who was going in the rangers and he told me that the main reason he wanted to join was "I have always wanted to be able to kill people" He was dead serious.

Well, that depends on where he meant by "here". If he meant Iraq, then I think he' definitely one of the top candidates for his own comment.

If he meant the US, I can think of some unfortunately important figures who would top the list. I cannot name them, though, as to do so would bring down the wrath of the assholes in the government.

Let's see, things I need...

air
water
food
shelter
killin'...

Yeah, that doesn't seem to work. Perhaps there are people there who need to be educated and, through that, made less ignorant but we have PLENTY of those people in the US as well. I present the soldier's remark as evidence.

Jesus Christ! When a democratic republic cannot allow dissenters things are coming to a pretty pickle. or something. That attitude is downright unAmerican.
