Eurovision 2018: Semi final 1 preview
It is only a few hours until the First Semi starts and here is a quick rundown on all the acts.
01 Azerbaijan Aisel "X My Heart" - Not a bad song to open the night. Not a good song but a good start.
02 Iceland Ari Ólafsson "Our Choice" - toilet break... too soon?
03 Albania Eugent Bushpepa "Mall" - could be very ouchy on the ears
04 Belgium Sennek "A Matter of Time" - it will be unsurprising if this is a weak performance
05 Czech Republic Mikolas Josef "Lie to Me" - One to watch. Interest will be in Mikolas' bank injury sustained in the first rehersal
06 Lithuania Ieva Zasimauskaitė "When We're Old" English, - Wait for the bridge...
07 Israel Netta "Toy" - This song, that body shames skinny girls, will be a meme by the end of the night . The new birdy dance.
08 Belarus Alekseev "Forever" - Toilet break
09 Estonia Elina Nechayeva "La Forza" - Best toilet roll doll ever
10 Bulgaria Equinox "Bones"- singing seems good but there is nothing for the camera people to work with
11 Macedonia Eye Cue "Lost and Found" - this is looking like a qualifying performance.
12 Croatia Franka "Crazy" - interesting.
13 Austria Cesár Sampson "Nobody but You" - I hope the camera angels make this look good. pushing shit uphill though...
14 Greece Yianna Terzi "Oniro mou" (Όνειρό μου) - This should not qualify. watch it in the semi because it will be your only chance to see it.
15 Finland Saara Aalto "Monsters" - redefining the little black dress
16 Armenia Sevak Khanagyan "Qami" (Քամի) - will not look good on TV.
17 Switzerland ZiBBZ "Stones" - Whats with using the bridge in the bridge...
18 Ireland Ryan O'Shaughnessy "Together" - sweet little song. might qualify based on the dancers
19 Cyprus Eleni Foureira "Fuego" - the lights could make for awkward scenes. Lots of late money on this though and it is now favouite over Israel. First time in well over a month that Israelis not on top. Could Israel be a shock non-qualifier... stay tuned.
My favourites to make the final are FYR Macedonia, Czech Republic and if I had to pick a third it would be out of Croatia and Finland
My definite non qualifiers are Iceland, Armenia and Greece.
But year after year Europe proves they cannot vote so who knows what will make it through...
