Tour Diary March 30, 2007

We were also looking forward to exploring and enjoying the beach. Which we did. We got down to the water on Friday Around 2 ish, which was later than we wanted but it was still nice. The beach there is a sight to see. Soft sand, palm trees, clear blue water, and beautiful people. Yeah, it was definitely awesome. Even though I’m not a great swimmer, I love the water, and spent most of the time in it. The temperature was perfect, not a lot of crap floating around in it, nice and wavy, you can look down and see the bottom, etc. It truly was a beautiful thing. After getting some sun, we headed to the RV, changed up, and went over to Hooters. During this time a little storm rolled in and rolled out, in Florida fashion.

We went back to the site and got cleaned up. It was time for a night on the town. We were set to meet up with a few of Mike’s friends to hang out. There was a particular club that Mike wanted to take us to, because he thought we’d like it. Phil dropped us off in the neighborhood so we could hang out, and him and Teresa went out on their own. The section over here was much like the area by the water with clubs in the fact that it was like an outdoor mall, a couple floors, with stores, but still some clubs and bars as well. This area was a few miles from there but a similar setup, except there were more clubs, and more serious ones at that. We walked a little to kinda scope it all out. The first stop was at a regular bar. We were to meet up with Mike’s friend Rachel there. We hung out for a bit and she finally showed. I was in my mode of thinking that the evening was likely going to be disappointing, depressing, or both for me. Anyone who reads my blogs knows how well I do in the club/bar scene. As that was the primary focus of the evening, I was preparing for the worse. Just sitting there as Mike and James began drinking while I had a coke, I could kinda tell how things were likely to go. But things took a turn.

Rachel got there, and I offered her my seat as I was sitting next to Mike. The girl who was near James put another stool by him so I could sit there. I ended up talking to her for a bit. Her name was Christina and we talked about the club scene, the tour, music, and all kinds of stuff. Of course she was engaged, but all the same, it was a good vehicle for helping me shed my fear of talking to women I don’t know. She was extremely nice, smart, cute, and it really helped the evening start off well. After Mike’s other friend arrived at the club and they finished their drinks, we headed down the street.

The next order of business was Automatic Slim’s. Now this was my kind of place compared to what I’ve seen as far as clubs go. It was a straight up rock club, Loud rock music, a crowd of people, extremely beautiful scantily clad women bartenders, and more scantily clad women dancing on the bar serving shots. Ok, I don’t drink, but when it looks like that, it’s not hard to appreciate the view no matter what. We found a spot and hung out. We just kinda chilled and took in the vibe there, which was killer. The people here weren’t your typical clubbers, but much more….I dunno, rocker I guess. Loud, upbeat, yeah it was cool. I really enjoyed myself there. Lots of cute girls hanging out too, which when they’re not scowling at me, is always a welcome thing. Luckily, they weren’t. One girl just randomly came up to me to tell me how awesome my hair is. I really wanted to respond with more than just “Thanks” to spark conversation further, but to no avail. Closer to when we left, another cute girl came up to me to ask if James sang karaoke. We exchanged a little conversation, or as much as you can in an extremely loud place like that. She seemed really nice and all that, but we ended up heading out of there as it was getting late. It was somewhere between 2:30 and 3am, yet the place was still jumping. We headed home, Rachel dropped us off. Then it was pass out time.

THIS was my idea of a fun day on a break during a tour. Amazing.
