[Gundam Wing] Acts of God

It was stupid. So very very stupid. He should have double-checked his target and not relied solely on the intel streaming across his Gundam’s screen. Hadn’t New Edward’s taught them all, that very harsh lesson?
Though, to be honest with himself, he wasn’t all that sure he would have done much to alter his plans, had he known that the warehouses containing OZ munitions were on the opposite side of the base. Other than making sure those particular warehouses were also rigged with explosives, of course.
It’s not that he had any particular desire for OZ soldiers to be unable to receive medical attention after a battle, nor did he care for the idea of anyone being forced to fight on an empty stomach. He’d done that far too often since coming to Earth.
But this was war.
And emergency rations and medical supplies could hold an Oz base together long enough to matter. Or help them rebuild faster than they could be taken down. He wanted this war over. As soon as possible and through any means necessary.
So yes. This Gundam pilot knew very well that he would have destroyed those supplies along with the weapons, had he been given the correct information, because it was incomprehensible that they’d be used for anything other than their current war.
But then, ‘acts of god’ weren’t known for being comprehensible to human minds.
And an earthquake of that magnitude, taking place so very far from any known fault line, and taking place only hours after he had wearily returned to the safe house could only be the will of some heartless god.
So now, days later, on an old flickering screen, he was able to watch as Oz soldiers mowed down riots with the weapons he was supposed to have destroyed instead of hand out aid with the supplies he had.
