D (a.k.a. my boss): Hey [Jak]. Do you think you- oh wait, you have class tonight don't you?
Me: Yeah.
D: Oh. I was hoping you could come in to work tonight. [L] called out and I really need someone to come in.
Me: Sorry, can't help. Isn't there now an 'On call' list in the breakroom? Did you look at that?
D: Oh, right!! I forgot! Yeah, I should check and see if anyone signed up for that. Thanks [Jak]!
Me: No problem. ^o^'

Monday: Earlier afternoon - *phone rings*

Woman: Hi! Is this [M}?
Me: No. This is her sister. I can g-
Woman: (interrupts) Oh. Well can I speak to her parents?
Me: I'm sorry, they're not available. Can I take a message?
Woman: I really need to speak with one of them. Can you have them call [doctor's office] when they get home?
Me: MY sister is just downstairs. I can give you to her.
Woman: Oh. Ok. Well, I was just calling to confirm her appointment on [date & time].
Me: .... *thinking: You couldn't have just said that at the beginning?*

Jeez. What a day for crazy/awkward phone conversations.
