Day 29: Current TV show obsession:
That has to be True Blood right now. I'm so hopeful that this year Alan Ball will not screw it up. The fourth book was one of my favorites because it was the start of Sookie's relationship with Eric, who is so amazingly hot. Since this is the fourth season and it's only slightly changing course from the book (Bill as King of Lousianna? What the hell?!) I'm clinging to the desperate hope that it will at least give us some elements from the book that made me love it so. I'm also digging Tara so far this season, which is different since she's about my least favorite character. I like that she's changed. I even like that she's turned lesbian- for the time being. She's less annoying this year. Pam and Eric are still on my top list. Eric losing his memory is going to be interesting to see, simply because it will make him vunlerable, which is something he has never really been. Bill- well he sucks and continue to sucks. Love how mature Jason has been this year so far. I think he has actually gotten hotter, something I didn't believe was possible. *laughing*
Day 30: Saddest Character death:
I have two:
First one: Jen, Dawson's Creek, WB/CW
(gif is not mine. Found on Google)
God this death had me bawling. I knew it was coming. The last half of the show was about her making things right for her daughter, but- I guess some part of me was hoping for a happier ending. Jen had the hardest road on the show. She was the character that grew the most (with the exception of Pacey, maybe). Her relationship with her Gran (which started out tense) became one of the corner stones of the show. I think what made her death even harder was that she left her daughter behind and never really got her happy ending. Yes she was at peace with it at the end, but as she even said- she was angry. Angry that her life was being cut so short, that she would never get to see her child grew and become an adult. Her death forced the other characters examine their own lives, forced them to make decisions. It was beautiful and heartbreaking.
Second is: Godric, True Blood, HBO, Season 2
I think his death was sad simply for how it effected Eric. Godric was Eric's maker and in the True Blood/Sookie Stackhouse novel series, that means his father. Eric never shows much emotion (other than anger) but in this scene he had his coldness stripped away and he was left heartbroken. Godric's character was so honorable and he was completely at peace with dying (a choice he made). His final moments were so serene and calm. Even his face as he died was one of happiness. In his heart he knew, for him, he was making the right choice. I think it also helped that since Eric couldn't be with him at the end (because it was death by sun- which would have killed Eric as well), Sookie was. Alan Ball, the head writer of the show, has often downplayed Sookie's connection with Eric as one of being strictly sexual, but in these scenes and the ones that followed, we got to see how much Eric and Sookie do care about each other.
