Today was the first Great Day of 2008. I really should start doing these things; when the year's over and I think it was a bust, I can go back to these entries and marvel at the awesome days I had... and think "damn this year really did suck, look how far back they were". Or be filled with thanksgiving. Whichever.
After watching a Charlie Chaplin film for Film 103, Sam and I went to the batibot outside MassComm. It's a sort of concrete structure built around trees which should have been more resilient, so all we're left with is a concrete donut with concrete benches all around it. Were it built any other way, the donut and benches would have been stolen ages ago.
Tope was there, and Lara and her really fierce volumized hair, and Patti S, who was planning her 24th birthday to be at McDonald's because she's such a class act, and I got invited because I was popular. The ways I delude myself.
A few really languid hours passed, and suddenly I was all "hey Sam, the field looks great" (there's One Last Field Classification: Frolickable in Metro Manila and MassComm is mercifully right beside it) and she was like "I was looking at it for hours. The One Last Field used to be a fake sort of golf course, back when Manila was newer and people were more optimistic. Now it's just regularly mowed. The gentle slopes and incredible views are still there though, and they looked so inviting. It was around 4 pm. Everything looked inviting in the sunlight.
We brought Tope along, and I had my camera, and we just sat around and took pictures, and then I got Sam to bend over and catch the sun between her ass, and the fun totally started.
Then Moki arrived from his class, and Spiderman kisses on the grass happened, and then Caloy came, which meant cool music while lying on the grass with him, Moki, Tope, and Sam, and it was just perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better afternoon.
Your friends are the ones who lie on the grass and go "oh my god, SKY!" and tell you to lie down with them.

Meanwhile, after a few false starts, my photography is going places. I went to Cubao yesterday to take pictures with Bia, for our Advanced Photography midterm, and the shots came out amazingly well. Then, there's the family photoshoot that happened with a photographer friend, with me taking pictures behind the scenes in a v v v v v chaotic living room. And then today, in the field in the sunset. I want to do this stuff forever.
