We scrapped the movie last night, and instead went to opening night aht the Lynx game.
There were fire works, and the Lynx won! (suprisingly)
However, I've tried very hard not to think about hockey these past six months. I can't afford to play, so I try not to think about it at all and get all sad about it. But, last night, watching the game, smelling the ice. All I can think about is getting out and skating now. Curses! Maybe I should go to a few open stick times. That way, I can get some skating in and it won't cost as much as playing for the full 4 month season. Or, I could just go play with the Columbia A team in all their tournaments. I don't know, but it's going to make me crazy to go to Lynx games and then not be able to skate. It's times like these I miss the 3 hours a day practices.
Also, at the game last night ARGH!! I've ranted about it before, and I'll rant about it again, but fighting is the ruin of hockey. THE RUIN! And, last season I was very happy with the hockey league and saying that they were going to clamp down on fighting, and not allow it, and they didn't! I didn't see any fights besides a couple quick punches the whole season (at least, the games I went to). I was SO happy.
Then, last night, opening night what happens? They allow fighting. And, it wasn't even good! It was almost like, every period they just picked two random people and said "you, you, center ice and put on a show!" It wasn't even real fighting!! It made me so mad I wanted to scream. I know that most people know jack about hockey, and only go to see the fighting, but gosh darn it, hockey is a beautiful game and full of finesse and it's only being ruined by this stupid fighting crap that I thought was finally being shied away from.
And, I want to punch anyone in the mouth who says they only watch hockey for the fights. Or, even worse, when they say "i went to a fight and a hockey game broke out" I will slap someone silly for saying that crap.
It's 330 in the morning and I'm bitter. So, perhaps I should go to sleep!
