My life in WoW

As some of you know, this past winter I started to play World of Warcraft (WoW) because one of my friends introduced me to it. It is an amazing game that is played very cooperatively. I played mostly at night after teaching and after several months got my toon (character I play in WoW) to level 60 (the top level in the game as of right now). I ( Read more... )

Ouroboros is a snake swallowing it's own tail. Suppose to represent infinite cycles of renewal.

Sorry to hear about your guild splitting up and all the drama involved. I've had mostly terrible experiences with guilds on my MMO careers. A few good ones aside they've mostly been drama farms and I usually end up leaving because I'm not really into that.

At least it's not as bad as a guild on Steamwheedle Cartel (the wow server I play on) where the GM and took all the guild items and gold and sold them on e-bay then disbanded the guild.

The online fidelity thing is really odd. I started a successful guild in Dark Age of Camelot when it first came out, after the game ran it's course with me I left the guild to one of my officer but by the time I came back she left her husband (who also played and was in the guild) for someone she met in DAOC, kicked him out of the guild then merged it with her new lovers guild. I wouldn't have believed things could get that way in an MMO without seeing it myself.

Anyway, sorry to hear all that. If you guys are on Steamwheedle Cartel send a tell to Silverleaf or Durzon sometime.

MMO's are their own place of existenance - weaving in and out of the real universe. I was shocked to find out how hurt people are when things like this happen. I was somewhat startled by how I felt.

The guild that the jerk created took all of the loot from our former guild - and didn't offer anything to members that were not asked to join (or who told them where to stick it), so there are quite a few people who feel they made off with the bank.

And you are correct about Ouroboros - our GM picked it for that very reason of renewal. Thankfully, we are an older guild - the officers are all 38, and most of our guildies are in their late 320-mid 40s. We are striving to be a small guild that is built to succeed in the expansion.

What's your toon on Steamwheedle?

It makes sense how people can get a little upset by things. It's an emotional investment and a general trust issue, but it's also a very real investment in time. Peoples time is precious and disrespecting it or making it worthless is something folks probably should take personally. All that in moderation of course, the extreme drama we often see is completely uncalled for.

I had a very strange experience leaving a WOW guild earlier this year. There wasn't really anything big to it on my end I just didn't enjoy my time with them so I wanted to leave the guild. They couldn't let it go, they were so addicted to drama they had to start to make up a mythology behind my leaving to fit their drama needs. After I left I heard all kinds of things about how I couldn't stand women players or how my plot to take over the guild was foiled. It really was amazing to me these folks couldn't operate at all without a drama construct.

Anyway, strange times.

My characters on Steamwheedle are Silverleaf (29 NE Priest) and Durzon (48 Dwarf Warrior). Courtney plays Breeana (38 NE Huntress).

If you're ever on drop us a tell, would be a ton of fun. If you know anyone up for a Horde alt night or something let me know. I enjoy playing with people.
