Just a few Past Encounters of Sexual Harassment

4 years ago (May 2007) I was at a house party. The same man hit on me 4 separate times. He was severely intoxicated and quite demeaning. I went downstairs where the music was playing to hang out by a friend.
Tom, the intoxicated man, walked up and grabbed my ass. I punched him in the face. (apparently, he's the kind of ma who hits back, but ( Read more... )

I have another example that stands out. There are many, but this one was pretty traumatic, and recent. I was in Czech Republic last fall and had many great times with friends, but there was a perpetual creepy guy who hung out near our hohotel in the main square of the city (warcesaw? Sp?). I decided one evening after dinner when everyone else was going to their rooms to go out and explore. No big deal right? This man was a black man living in Czech who spoke the language, but was not from there. He followed me the minute I hit the street, so I ducked into the nearest bar. He was leering, and being quite obvious. I eventually left when I saw that he wasn't around, made it one block, and he was there. He told me clearly in English "I'm going to rape you bitch. I'm going to have you". I was fucking terrified. I spent the rest of the evening ducking him, and trying to seek help from police, who all claimed not to speak English (though the next day at the police station, most did speak English). I couldn't go back to my hotel, and I ended up finding people from America and Czech in old town to keep me company. I didn't make it back until the next day when I felt safe to do so. After my friends called the cops. I certainly hope noone chalks that up to a compliment. Thanks for sharing.

That's terrifying!
I'm glad you are safe (although the threat is traumatic in and of itself!)
