Ah what a day. After some solitary chore-doing and computer gaming at home most of the day, I headed over to Jamie's house for "Porchstock '06". There was a full setup of amps, keys, a few guitars, and more basses than was possibly necessary.
I was pleasantly surprised to find myself hanging out with a different crowd than my usual summer nights. After chilling out for a few minutes, an impromptu band took the stage to fill up time before the "serious" musicians (NOAH and MATT BELL cough cough). It was really fun singing all these songs (Sympathy for the Devil, Cripple Creek, Like a Rolling Stone, China Cat Sunflower>I Know You Rider) that I love with a band that seeme to be having fun. And best of all was the look on Noah's face as he saw his sacrosanct Dylan/Band songs being...err...reinterpreted. I am gonna miss living across from that kid in a week! I should note I took a lot of his music for my college collection. The best part: Having him staring over my shoulder judging me for what I took. It made me smile.
After bravura performances from Nick N' Noah and (of course) Matt Bell, I got to live out my teenage dream of doing a Robert Plant immitation over screaming guitar and crazy drums. Good Times (for me) Bad Times (for the audience) indeed.
After that broke up I went to hang out and say goodbye to Julie with many friends. We chilled, Unity Clocked, and Jeff and I got pulled over by a cop who was pretty surprised to see just how nerdy we were.
"One look at your beard" Jeff said, "and I knew he realized he had the wrong car."
Yeah, hear's to my last days in Delmar...may they be filled with more friendship.
