Violin
I couldn't quite believe my eyes when I chanced to glance into the window of a pawnbroker's shop - an establishment which I should visit to sell rather than to buy in my current financial situation. However, this was an offer I could not possibly walk past. In a way, I had marvelled at the very object that now lay before me since my early childhood; since I had first discovered the sweet pleasure that is music.
After some minutes, I left the shop a few shillings the poorer, but in the possession of one of the last genuine Stradivarii.

Watch
I couldn't quite believe my eyes when the package arrived. It was not so much surprise that our family solicitor had been able to track my whereabouts throughout my military service to my new lodgings but the fact that I could not fathom what he might want with me. Both my parents had long passed away, and my relations were extended but hardly close.
I instantly knew who was the reason for the unexpected missive, however, when I lay eyes on the contents - the beautiful, if worn golden watch that had passed from my father to my unfortunate brother.
