I voted this morning. I didn't sleep well at all. I kept getting up in the middle of the night. When I finally got my core cooled and crawled back into bed, I slipped into blissful and temporary sleep-- temporary because right as I drifted off to sleep, Jordan rolled on top of me. I was pretty angry. Not sure, but I think I gave him a grumpy "while you were sleeping you kept me awake all night" spiel. I'm over it now, but I'd eventually like to get some sort of rest. This constant non-stop is really draining. (Though, I kinda do it to myself because I have things I want to do!)
Tonight, we made jam. All those peaches we picked on Saturday were getting horribly soft. I cut some into quarters to can later this week. We only made four small jars of peach jam. They look so cute. This was the first we've ever tried to make jam, but both of our moms used to "jam" all the time. It looked pretty good. Not too thick and not too thin when we put it into the jars. Hopefully it turned out okay. I've heard all sorts of horror stories about jam and jelly making... but, to me, it didn't seem too difficult... then again, I don't even know if I did it correctly! Haha. If I don't can those peach quarters, we can have a repeat performance sometime soon.
Jordan cut up a bunch of asian pears we picked. He wants to make jelly, so that is straining tonight. We'll finish that and can it tomorrow evening. I hope we have enough jars... his recipe says 8 jars. I used 4. We bought 12.... if his makes more, then... Ah, well.
Also this week, sometime, Jordan is going to pickle four HUGE cucumbers... and make salsa from the $10 worth of tomatoes. We also picked fresh bell peppers, jalepenos and chili peppers. Spicy!
We lost what was left from Saturday night's zucchini bread escapade. Jordan put the shredded bits in a bag with the fruit and forgot about it. We tossed it. That's A-okay, though because we still have two two-foot long zucchini left. Heh. We bought a lot of fruit and veggies. I just hope we get to eat 'em all or can 'em before they go bad. It'd be a shame to see them go to waste.
