I was shocked, shocked I tell you, to see the Cardinals actually make it to the Superbowl. Why, the last time they played that well was in the 1940's... and the first Superbowl wasn't 'till the early 1960's. I've never been a Cardinals fan and, so I couldn't be confused with a fair-weather friend, I was cheering for the Steelers. Honestly, GreenBay is my favourite team because they have cool cheese-wedge hats. That's right, I picked them because of their awesome cheese-heads. This is not because they play well, or that they won the first two Superbowls EVER. It's because I think green and yellow with a hint of cheese is AWESOME. (If I had a to pick a team based on skills, I'd go with the Patriots or the Steelers, but that's beside the point....)
I was a bit non-plussed with the commercial selection this year. Some of them tried for funny and missed terribly. Others, like the hulu commercial with Alec Baldwin, were "kinda" funny. My all-time favourite Superbowl commercial is a Pepsi commercial. You see a man standing in front of a Pepsi machine flattening out his dollar. He puts it in. It comes out. He puts it in. It comes out. You hear "Vtttt" "ttttV" as his bill is inserted and then rejected. Finally, the bill is accepted. The man lets out a cheer-- "YES! HAHA!"-- and just as he's about to push the button, his bill is returned. The camera pans out and the guy is in the middle of nowhere, desert and you hear the machine keep rejecting his bill as the commercial ends with the Pepsi logo at sunset.
Game and commercials aside, here in Tucson there was quite the fiasco. Apparently, if you got the game through an analogue signal through ComCast in the NW of the city... you got to see some porn after Fitz' (Cardinal No. 11) scored his mad-dash TOUCHDOWN!!! Apparently, people were either shocked or pleasantly surprised to get that eye-full. (
Article Here) People are either up-in-arms, don't care, didn't see it, or were pleasantly surprised. I, personally, didn't see it... and while I don't think I'd have appreciated it, I really could care less. Still, it's too funny to not point out.
