As you may or may not know, I've
gotten into the new E4 series 'Misfits' which is best described as the
British version of Heroes. Five young people were doing community
service for various crimes, when they got struck by mysterious
lightning and gained superpowers which were based on their personality.
For example, the shy one can turn invisible, the one with lots of
regrets can turn back time etc. I will post a reaction post on each
episode some time. The Wikipedia entry and the E4 Page explains it better than I could. (contains spoilers)
The main characters:
Nathan: He has the power of (his power is a huge spoiler so highlight to read) immortality.
Simon: Can turn invisible.
Curtis: Can turn back time.
Alisha: She has the power of making people want to have intercourse with her when they touch her.
Kelly: Can read people's thoughts.

Which got me thinking on what powers the characters from Torchwood/Doctor Who/Sarah Jane adventures would gain if they were hit by the same lightning.
Martha: Power of healing (maybe both herself and others)
Sarah Jane: Maybe some sort of power that makes anyone she touches, tell their secrets.
Jack: Maybe the same as Alisha's
