Idiot phone

Funny how much frustration one little cellphone can cause. Even funnier because it's not my phone but my mom's : | She got a shiny new HTC Titan today, it's a Windows phone. It's... a little tricky to use so far. She tried to understand it and ended up almost panicking because she couldn't figure out how to get the phone numbers from her sim card to actually be available in the phone (which was terrifying to her because what if something happened and she couldn't call anyone because the phone doesn't let her access her numbers and she doesn't remember any? ... yeah, I don't get it either, couldn't she just change back to her old phone if she was going somewhere if she couldn't figure out how to work with this one?). I managed to fix that problem after fiddling with the phone for a moment, so maybe I'm more suitable for "smart" phones than she is. Dunno. Either way, there was one problem that even I couldn't fix no matter what. Text messaging.

So, she typed a message before I got her numbers into the phone and before she realized that they weren't there. When the phone prompted her to choose who to send the message to and didn't actually have any numbers in it yet she just typed my sister's name in it, thinking that would work because the phone is supposed to be smart. Obviously it didn't because there wasn't any number to send the message to, just a typed name. So later, after I got the numbers into the phone, she wanted to try sending it again. And this is where the phone started getting on my nerves. It appears that it's not possible to change the recipient after it has been chosen once, as in you can't forward the same message to someone else. Of course, that sounds so stupid that I couldn't believe it would be the case, which means that I spent who knows how long trying to figure out how to change the recipient and the phone kept going "Beeep~ :DD I'm laughing at your pathetic attempts at doing this, bebebebeep~ XD Listen to me beep at random~". ... yeah, is it obvious that after I while I seriously believed that the phone is mocking me?

So, after fighting with the phone I just really couldn't find a way to change the recipient or forward the message. Or to get more than one recipient to it. So I've reached the conclusion that it's not possible. So, the lesson here is that my mother better first choose the recipient and do it correctly, and only then type the message. Because it would suck if she first typed the message and then went to choose who to send it to and accidentally picked a wrong person, as that would mean that she'd have to start all over again as the recipient can't be changed and the message can't be forwarded to someone else. Oh, and after doing a little google-fu I figured out that if she wants to send the same message to more than one person she needs to form a group first and then pick it as the recipient. ... sounds nice. Like, if she wants to send the same message to me and my sister, she needs to form a group for us. If she wants to send it to Friend A and Friend B, they need their own group. And isn't that fun if it's just for this one occasion and she will never need that pair again? Sounds like there will be a lot of "make a group", "delete a group" going on in the future.

That's one phone I never want to own.

Ps. Manual? What is a manual? This phone doesn't need no fucking manual : | Here you have this little pamphlet that has about two pages in it that contain very little to no information about using the phone. You're welcome. *pushes the user off a cliff with a napkin as a parachute*
