Hi Brenda,

Your post got me thinking about getting more organized in my finances. Then I found myself reading a Cosmo for the first time in quite awhile, waiting to get a haircut. I read about a site that will help you track your personal budget every month: Mint.com. I don't know if you've seen it yet, but I really like it.

Mint auto-syncs your bank accounts, credit cards, student loans, and investments. It shows how you've spent your money over the last month, and lets you personalize how much you want to spend on each line item. It will send you an email to tell you if your checking balance is too low, if you overspend in any area, and if any strange charges show up. If you have credit card debt, it offers you suggestions on reducing it.

I like having the accountability of facing my Mint account emails if I'm tempted to spend on something I don't need or could get cheaper. Just that, I think, will help me save more toward reducing my student loans.

Good luck!
