I've been very ill since Saturday, and now it's gone into my lungs. Bikerbitch told me I'm usually more stoic about being ill. Pffft. I'm sick and I'll whine if I want tooooo.
I don't have a single pair of pants for work tomorrow, and I need to shower all the fever sweat off, but we are having violent thunderstorms and I prolly should be shutting this computer off now.
My grandparents home, aka the house my grandpa mostly built in NJ, survived Hurricane Sandy intact -- YAY --good construction there! My mom remembers flooding up to the second story roof of their house during hurricanes and storm surges when she was a kid. One time, my grandpa had tied a boat to the roof of the garage, and the water covered it. She remembers him diving down to get the boat despite my grandma screaming for him not to, cause she was afraid he'd be swept away or be electrocuted by the power lines. But the stubborn old Marine went anyway, and pulled the sunken boat tot he surface and onto the roof of the house anyway.
Their hometown got flooded. One of my Mom's high school classmates, my grandma's former hairdresser, got over four feet of water in her shop/home. The post office got damaged and is still closed this many months later.
And I didn't find out till much later, but my cousin was AT the Boston Marathon when the bombs went off. Holy Crap!
My town did a run after the bombing, to symbolically finish the marathon for the victims. My worksister and the Redheaded guy both participated. I would have too, but I was unable to get out of work.
My worksister's sis was in Oklahoma City and within a mile of the tornado, and not allowed to take cover by her employer, aka our fine government. She survived that and got t-boned and rolled her car Monday, cause life sucks. She was born without use of one of her arms, so their dad is driving down to put a knob thingy on her new car so she can drive it. I hope he can even get there through all that destruction.
