Well. I had my first three day weekend in four years, and I got no freaking rest. For ol' times sake, I put the computer game ReVolt (car racing game based on RC's) in the boombox, cranked it up, and worked.

So, the backyard is pretty much landscaped now, including a magnolia tree. I hope it does well, since we're really on the edge of their tolerance. Lots of sweetspires, knockout roses, rhododendrons, and just a general assortment. Looks really good...now I just have to keep the squirrels out of it.

Also pretty much finished painting my office, and I put my two new bookcases in there. It's amazing how much they filled up; I'm using one to hold all of my DVD's, which is a lot, and some of my larger fossils, and a sizable amethyst geode.

So, just getting the whole house prepped in general. Sunday, I'm having a little party just for the people who helped me get moved in (about a year after the fact), so I'm getting stuff gathered for that. Not going to make a whole lot, but I make a damn good quesadilla, so I'll have those (the secret is in the chicken), some cheeseballs, a fiesta dip, and a couple of desserts. Which will be a bitch to make without a Kitchenaid mixer, but I just can't bring myself to drop $200 for a mixer that I would use so infrequently.

It does strike me that I probably ought to be more sociable, and actually meet my neighbours though. I mean, the little white dog next door (Gizmo?) barks at me a lot, and I've met the guy across the street, who it turned out works with my uncle, but other than that, nobody. Except for the lady who lives cattycorner who came over and met dad one night while I was painting my room. I guess the main reason she came over was to inquire about the tires I had sitting in front of the house. The people I bought the house from left a lot of trash behind. Kind of my fault though; I was trying to be accomodating, and we closed on the house first thing in the morning, but their moving trucks didn't leave until around noon, so they took advantage of that. Oh well, live and learn.

Of course...I could haul home about ten tires a night...pile them up in the drive...set them on fire. Claim it's my new night light.

If anybody complained...I'd just walk up the pile...kick a tire..."yep...that's a good tire."

(for reference: drive people nuts. Walk up to their car. Kick a tire. Then say 'V-6?' Kick another tire. 'ABS?'
