Mildly Concerned

Today's Writing Effort

I had another early appointment, but I chose to do animal chores after I got home. Instead, I had a good breakfast and a thoroughly hot shower. I even shaved. All because I was having a biopsy on some tiny calcifications in my right breast. It's usually just calcium deposits, but there is a small percent chance that it might indicate cancer. Given my family history, I was mildly concerned. The procedure was nothing like the Mediastinoscopy with Biopsy that I had on my anniversary. They just shot me up with some lidocaine and sucked out a tiny bit of my boob with a needle. Then they put in a tiny bit of titanium about the size of a grain of rice so that if they need to ever go back to biopsy the area again, they know where to look. The whole thing took an hour and a half from the time I arrive to when I left. But the procedure itself was fairly quick. I've had fillings at the dentist that took longer.

When I was done, I went home and did the animal chores. It had rained and was going to rain again, so I didn't bother watering the plants. We haven't gotten the garden planted yet, but the berry bushes and the lilac bushes and my rose bushes, as well as my irises and tiger lilies all need water now, as opposed to later.

In fact, it started to really downpour just as I was finishing up filling the flock's pools for them. They need the water to stay cool during the blazing heat of summer. They're also happier when they have a little pond or two to splash around in.

Today was the day that we got the new puppy, an Australian Shepherd with grey and white fur. She was named Kore, after the Greek Goddess of Flowers. Theodore seemed to be taking the new arrival well. Apparently, Apollo met the new puppy, but got a bristle brush tail. That may have had more to do with Theodore than anything else. I tried to introduce Venus, but she was having none of that after a cursory sniff. I don't know how Yuno will react other than hiding in my room for a while. I can pick her up from Spokane on Monday.

Sappho is delighted to have a dog.

I like the dog too, and surprisingly enough, she really seems to like me.

I didn't do much for the rest of the day except a load of laundry and working on my crochet.

I did get to hang out with James in the evening, and it was just what I needed. He was very concerned that he'd forgotten that my biopsy was today, but I assured him that all was well. Truthfully, there were already four people in the room besides me, so there wouldn't have been any room for him even if he had been able to attend.

I'm trying not to be worried about the results since I have been reassured that it is most likely nothing to be concerned about, but given what my mother went through, I cannot help but be preoccupied with thoughts of cancer more often than I would like.
