More Stuff...

I'm finally getting my car! (in a couple of weeks!) Kenny's friend at work bought a car for his daughter to drive to school in (she goes down to LA) and his wife didn't like the car he bought because the daughter goes through mountainous areas and it wouldn't be safe so, they're selling it. Kenny loves it and has ridden in it a lot because the guy drives it to work a lot and he has lunch with this guy almost every day. Ok. It's an '87 BMW 325i convertible, and according to Kenny and his car freak friends, Stephen and David, it's a very sound investment-in good condition. *LOL* It's gold with leather interior, automatic, it has this little computer that Kenny and his friends say is really awesome. The guy selling it is asking $1,500, and the car has 100k miles on it, which is a lot, sure but, we think it's good for around town. Kenny thinks that it'd be just fine for out of town too-he's seen what it can do. I can't wait! I told my dad about it and he said that it sounded cool. On Thursday last week, I got a note from the devil managers of the appartment complex saying that they're rasing the rent to $400 a month so, Kenny and I are looking for another place. I'm not paying $400 a month for a dinky, ghetto appartment that's run by Attila and her husband, Satan. i'm just tired of looking over my shoulder every time I walk out my front door. A couple of hours after I got the note, Kenny called from work saying he had some really bad news. My first thought was that he got layed off. He said that his Program Manager announced that he was quitting, because he just took a job to be the head of Enterprise Services for Disney. This is bad for Kenny because the person to take the guy's place will come in an wipe the budget, meaning that they will move Kenny out of Lockheed Martin and to a podunk little contractor called M-Co. This company has really crappy benefits and he'd lose his reimbersement for school (BAD!). Not only that, but if he wants to move up and make more money, he needs to do it while he's still Lockheed because nobody knows this other little company, and if he were up for a job against someone from Lockheed, the hiring company would hire the Lockheed person. So, Kenny's old boss works for a big company called West in Omaha, NE and he's been trying to hire Kenny for about a year now. Kenny has put it off so far, because I was happy being here and he was happy at work. Now that things are moving and shaking, he called Steve (his old boss) this morning and now he has an interview this afternoon. Steve says he can get us a relocation package and better pay and everything. We looked up Omaha online, and the town that Steve lives in outside the city called La Mesa, and we were impressed. We found out the name of the townhouse community (it's gated!) that Steve and his wife live in and looked it up. It's georgeous! All the townhouses have fireplaces, washer and dryer included, side by side refrigerators with ice and water in the door, large living space, 2 or 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom. The community has an indoor pool, event area, gym (I think) and there's fountains on the property. It's like $1,100 or $1,200 a month. I think that's good for all the amenities they offer. With the relocation package, and better pay, we could afford it. Kenny's drive to work would take about 16 minutes, on the freeway. Omaha is really cool I think-there's 4 colleges, one's a university, 4 or 5 malls, a zoo, an airport (yay! so Krystal will get to come home to see her family without the hassle of commuting to the damn airport!) comedy clubs, zillions of resturants...so we won't be bored. They have live theaters which I love. And the best part-it's a 4 hour drive from there to my Grandma and Grandpa Ruhl's house in Galesburg, Il. We looked up directions from La Mesa, NE to Galesburg, IL and it's almost a straight shot through Iowa on the I-80. Pretty much painless. This isn't official yet-we have to see how the phone interview goes first. Kenny also applied for a couple of jobs at Sunk Works in Palmdale (Lockheed facility) so if he gets a job there we'll just move out of this appartment and find another place in Ridgecrest or in Cal City. So we'll see what happens. I just got home a bit ago from my ultrasound, and the tech told me (she wasn't supposed to but she wanted to make sure I knew.) that she saw something in my gall bladder and it's either polyps or gall stones. I have a follow up appointment with Dr. Joe on April 3rd, so we'll find out what's to be done. If there's anything in the gall bladder at all I am just going to tell Dr. Joe that I want it taken out. I don't want this to happen again.
