Review: Sherlock Holmes
Sherlock Holmes was made of awesome!
Things I Liked:
1. The way that Sherlock’s intelligence is shown in the pure rapid speed of his thoughts. He’s multiple steps ahead of anyone. He knows just what moves to take to beat a guy in a fight, and then he follows through. =D
2. That Holmes doesn’t let himself get pushed around when he meets people of power. He clearly was not impressed when meeting the Mason head guy, whose name I have totally forgotten.
3. Mary throwing that glass of wine into Sherlock’s face. Heh. He deserved it. Actually, Mary was pretty awesome every time she showed up. She didn’t fall into the harpy cliché like I was afraid she would.
4. The fact that Holmes is pretty damn suspicious of Irene, and even if he wasn’t paranoid enough to keep from getting knocked out by the drugged wine.
5. That Watson is clearly very intelligent, and doesn’t have to have Holmes explain everything to him like he’s an idiot. He’s the kind of man that I can believe that Holmes would be friends with as well as work those cases with.
6. The inspector guy who is always calling Holmes in. I liked that he’s a good guy that supports Holmes even with the orders being out for Holmes’ arrest.
7. Watson fighting those guys when Irene and Holmes are figuring out how to stop the machine. He’s outnumbered like 4 to 1 and he still kicks their asses. Ha!
Things I Hated:
1. Um, that I didn’t get to see Moriarty's face so I have no clue what he looks like in this movieverse. Yeah, that’s about it.
Things I Just Plain Loved:
1. Every single time Watson and Holmes were interacting. OMG! So slashy, so awesome!
2. And it’s so easy to see that Watson and Holmes have each other’s back. Holmes may be this mega-ultra genius who needs something to occupy his brain or he goes crazy but he totally regards Watson as his partner. \o/
3. The bit of conversation when Holmes and Watson were in the jail pen. When Holmes referred to their room, as ‘our rooms, our dog’, and the rest of it.
4. Holmes being so clingy to Watson. And his every attempt to break Watson and Mary up. *dies of laughter* OMG, just the palm reading alone, trying to threaten Watson with a future fat Mary coved in warts. I laughed so hard.
5. Watson's and Holmes' asskicking ability. \o/
6. Watson and Holmes taking care of each other. Watson keeps Holmes from going too crazy when he doesn’t have a case to distract him. And Holmes looks out for Watson, like with his money, and his reputation.
7. Naked Holmes tied to the bed. Guh. *drools*
Random Extra Bit:
Watson being blown up totally freaked me out. And I could see how this made Holmes decided that he’d stop trying to keep Watson from Mary. Aw, Sherlock’s face in the end when he left without Watson at his side made me so sad for him. Watson needs to come back!
Also, the blatantly obvious sequel can’t come soon enough.
There are so many things I liked that I can't even remember them all. The movie rocked, and I need to see it again. Especially since the plot was so twisty [as a good mystery should be, let alone a Sherlock Holmes movie] that I want to see if I can catch what bits I missed. =D
