A few weeks ago I discovered
Konad, and ever since I've been really into doing my nails. Konad is for diy nail stamping using etched image plates. Swipe some polish on the image you want, scrape off the excess, pick up the image with the special stamp and deposit it on your nail. Easy peasy! Certain polishes stamp better than others, particularly ones that are thicker and/or more opaque. Konad makes a special 'stamping polish', but so far I've found that Sally Hansen's Insta-Dry line works really well too.
I started my Konad adventures with a
starter set: stamper, scraper, one Konad plate, and a small bottle of special polish. And it was pretty easy.
Now that I knew how easy stamping was, clearly I needed more image choices. Konad plates are a little pricey, so I tried out
Bundle Monster's first set. 21 plates for under $20, shipping included? Count me in. So far I'm really loving them.
First try:
Terrible picture with lots of glare, but the mani itself was pretty. You can't see it here, but the flowers are connected with curling stems, it's really cute. =)
And now I'm rocking the polka dots and peace signs.
(Teal polka dots are Insta-Dry, white's the special Konad polish. Base isn't black, it's a really dark teal, my current absolute favorite polish, Essie Dive Bar.)
Stamping's a lot of fun. Now I just need to get more polish colors, as my current collection's pretty pitiful and definitely leans heavily towards the blue/green end of things. I really really need a rainbow mani. *_* I also won a glow-in-the-dark topcoat on Ebay tonight. No idea what I'm doing with that, but really excited to try it. When did I become such a girly-girl? ;D
Watched some Buffy tonight on Netflix, ah the corny 90's sfx and the weird slang. Good times.
