New toy!

Ok, so it was a good weekend and then some... :) It seems MrO and I have both managed to locate some of our get-up 'n go and we had a mad blitz on our bedroom on Saturday. This included throwing out shoes and clothes we've been hanging onto just 'cause and reorganizing our big bookshelf in there too! :) I'm pleased to say we can now not only see the floor and hang up our clothes in the wardrobe, but it looks nice, smells nice and it totally clean and tidy! Considering how long it's been since we had any time to sort out stuff like this, it's an amazing accomplishment as well as long overdue! What's better still our son decided he'd better give his room a bit of a tidy up too and did so without us having to moan at him! ;)

In part to celebrate the room cleaning we'd all done and also because our son's been in real need of a new chest of drawers for his room, we had a trip to the local Ikea on Sunday. I'm pleased to say we managed to get the drawers to fit his room - one of Ikea's new items in the Malm range fir the bill perfectly and better yet it didn't cost too much! :) MrO and I treated ourselves to some huge roll cushions for our bed and we hit the Swedish Shop too for some mini cinnamon rolls and some good elderflower cordial... Mmmm...

Next we went to CMK for a bit of a mooch around as well as to pick up MrO's astronomy magazine. He was pleased to find the American food import store had Jolt Cola and promptly bought himself the biggest can of the stuff I've ever seen - no excuses for having no energy after that! ;) While my son and I had Countrytime Lemonade and better still Hawaiian Punch that I've not had in over 10 years! The simple pleasures are sometimes the best... ;) Then it was on to Jessops for a further look at digital cameras as I've been wanting to upgrade mine for ages now. After a fair deal of being ignored by sales people and almost giving up all hope of being able to have a close look at the cameras I wanted, the manager came over and showed me a few in my price range and of a high enough spec to keep me happy. Being short I'd not noticed the Panasonic DMC-FZ8 lurking on the top shelf, so when I got my hands on it I was rather interested to see what I'd been missing. To my joy it met all my requirements, while remaining well within budget! So maybe it's not the DSLR of my dreams, but it's a big step in that direction and is a darn sight easier to use! :) It's easy to handle, has almost all the features I wanted (missing only one and that I can live without), light weight and very straightforward to use! Better still MrO said I could have it as an early birthday present if I promised not to enjoy it too much before mid October! :P Needless to say he's now in my good books and I'm busy looking for stuff to take photos of! :)

"Here kitty, kitty!" ;)
