Took a class on Thursday called The Wines of Pennsylvania and I have to say it was really very cool! They had six wines from "local" wineries for us to try. Since they knew I was a complete novice at this they did bring it down a bit for me. :) And the rest of the class was excited to have a new person in the class. Learned all the basics of the look of the wine, the color, why we swirl the wine, how to see if you can pick different things up in the scent, etc.
While I know my tastes usually run to the sweat wines I was surprised to find that one of my favorites for the night was a dry white. Hmmmmm! Now I need to get out to the winery to get some Gewurztraminer.
Found it interesting to taste the difference in the wines before and after eating something. Some I liked better after food and strangely there was one I liked before food.
I was amused that while everyone gave a thought on the wines I tended to be the go to person - what did I think of that wine. :)
They're doing a Wines of the Finger Lakes class on the 28th and since almost everyone who took this class is taking that class I might join them. :)
