It's May Now!

Long entries require cuts! Pick your Jess-venture below:

Last month ended very nicely. Saturday was Sam and my first anniversary, with the first time we went out back in 2010 not being inclusive. We dressed up a bit and went out to dinner at The Casablanca Restaurant in New Castle using a 50% off Groupon that Sam had bought earlier last month. It was great! The atmosphere is charming, the food is absolutely delicious and you get a lot of it! The regular price is $25/person for a seven-course meal. Totally worth it in my opinion. They have another Groupon for sale right now and I'm rather tempted to buy it, heh.

I'm pretty happy that I have someone to share things with. Sam makes me happy and giggly and tries his best to cheer me up when I don't feel good. Sometimes we disagree on things, but not so often that it's remotely a problem. We spend lots of time together and make jokes and he helps me come up with ideas for things to draw and ways to make my costumes. We help eachother with our shortcomings and try to make each other better people, which is how it should be. It's been a good year, and I hope we have many more years together <3

Right now Sam and I are really getting down to the business of moving out. He's needs to move, and I kind of need to move, too. My mom doesn't really enjoy living with me at all now that I'm an adult, so I need to get going as soon as possible. Initally he was going to find a roommate and move out before me, but we don't know a single person who'd be a suitable roommate. Buncha flakes out there. So since we both have to move we'll just go together. Steady income is the main issue, as living comfortably isn't cheap. We'll figure it out, though. Somehow.

I'm picking up quite a few new art projects and working on a few of my own. I'm on my second Doodle Day event, which is when I accept free drawing requests in exchange for donations. This one's going very well, largely in part from a hefty donation from the wonderful scootersquirrel. =] I'm also slated to meet up with the fine ladies of Mainstay Publishing in regards to possibly illustrating their next book. So I have to come up with some concept sketches for that and hope it goes well.

Tomorrow morning I go under the knife for my septoplasty. I'm hoping I don't feel unbelievably shitty after all's said and done. The doctor said I'll be relatively miserable until Monday. I do look forward to being able to breathe through my nose while sleeping! My septum as it is now is pretty close to closing off my right nostril. That's no good. It makes me breathe through my mouth when I sleep, which makes me restless and breathing all over Sam's face if we happen to be in bed together. I hope I make a relatively comfortable recovery.
